- Mission
- Help people turn an idea or a skill into a small business that brings in steady income.
- Vision
- Refugee-led businesses that create jobs and serve their communities.
Many refugees in Uganda already run small businesses, from market stalls to tailoring shops. What they often lack is training, a plan and someone to ask for advice. This programme fills that gap.
What you will learn
- How to test a business idea before spending money
- Knowing your customers and what they will pay
- Keeping simple records of costs, sales and profit
- Saving, borrowing safely and growing step by step
- Using phones and social media to reach more customers
Mentoring
Each group is paired with mentors who check in as learners start or grow their business. Mentors help with problems as they come up, not only in class.
Our reach
In 2025, working with the African Youth Action Network, YAREN trained more than 200 entrepreneurs across five locations: Kampala, Rhino Camp, Kyaka II, Kiryandongo and Kyangwali.
Who can join
Refugees and host community members who have a business idea or a small business they want to grow.
