Agriculture

Mission
Help families grow enough food to eat well and sell what is left for income.
Vision
Refugee households that feed themselves and their neighbours.

Many refugee families in Uganda have a small plot of land, but they do not always have the tools, seeds or know-how to farm well. YAREN helps families make the most of their land. This is a community programme. You do not need to apply. It reaches farmers through YAREN groups in the field.

What we do

  • Train farmers in planting, spacing and caring for crops
  • Teach ways to keep soil healthy and save water
  • Share good seed and simple tools
  • Show families how to store harvests so less is lost
  • Help farmers group together to sell what they grow

Part of Jenga Jamaa

Agriculture and income is one of the four pillars of Jenga Jamaa, YAREN's three-year programme for 2026 to 2028. The aim is for families to move from depending on aid to feeding themselves and earning from their land.

How you can help

Your gift can buy seeds, tools and training for a farming family. Partners can help us reach more settlements.
